Alton Magic Mirror Photo Booth Hire

Welcome to Alton Magic Mirror Photo Booth Hire

Professional Magic Mirror Photo Booth Hire for Every Alton Celebration

Alton is one of Hampshire’s most characterful, most historically layered and most warmly community-spirited market towns — a community in the East Hampshire District at the source of the River Wey whose combination of a distinguished brewing heritage, a fine medieval parish church bearing the extraordinary physical evidence of a Civil War battle fought within and around its walls, a beautifully preserved High Street of Georgian and Victorian commercial architecture, excellent independent schools, quality transport connections via the South Western Railway line to London Waterloo, and the warm, engaged and genuinely neighbourly character of a Hampshire market town that knows its own worth without needing to announce it loudly creates a community of considerable quiet distinction and enduring appeal.

Alton sits at the northern gateway to the South Downs National Park, its position at the foot of the chalk escarpment giving it immediate access to some of the finest downland walking, cycling and outdoor recreation available anywhere in southern England, and the combination of this outstanding natural setting with the town’s excellent schools, its quality independent shops, its established hospitality venues and its active community and cultural life makes Alton one of the most genuinely well-rounded and satisfying places to live in the whole of Hampshire.

Photobooth4all is proud to bring professional, warm and excellent quality magic mirror photo booth hire to every Alton celebration — wedding receptions at the town’s quality venues and the surrounding Hampshire country houses, landmark milestone birthday parties in Alton’s restaurants and community establishments, school proms from Alton College and the local secondary schools, corporate events, community fundraisers, anniversary celebrations, christenings and private home gatherings throughout this distinguished and warmly welcoming Hampshire market town and the surrounding villages of Holybourne, Froyle, Bentley, Binsted and the wider East Hampshire countryside.

Alton: Civil War Heritage, Brewing Tradition and the Gateway to the Downs

St Lawrence Church and the Civil War Battle of Alton

The Church of St Lawrence in Alton’s town centre bears on its south door and throughout its interior the most vivid and most immediately readable physical evidence of a Civil War engagement of December 1643 that is both historically significant and humanly compelling in its final dramatic episode. On 13 December 1643 a Royalist force of approximately 1,000 men under Colonel John Boles retreated before an advancing Parliamentary army of 5,000 under Sir William Waller, making their final stand within the church after the town had been taken. The Parliamentary forces broke through the churchyard wall and stormed the church, fighting hand-to-hand through the nave and chancel in a battle of extraordinary ferocity that ended with the last 80 Royalist defenders barricading themselves in the chancel.

Colonel Boles himself, according to the most consistently reported account, was shot from the pulpit, nailed his colours to the pulpit with his sword as he fell, and was killed defending the doorway. The bullet holes, pike marks and musket ball impacts visible in the south door and throughout the church interior are among the most direct and unmediated physical connections to a specific Civil War engagement surviving in any English church, and they make St Lawrence one of the most historically fascinating parish churches in Hampshire.

Alton’s brewing heritage — centred on the celebrated Courage brewery that occupied a prominent town centre site for generations and whose strong ales and particularly its famous Alton ales were regarded by Victorian and Edwardian connoisseurs as among the finest produced anywhere in southern England, the quality of the water drawn from the chalk aquifer beneath the town being considered fundamental to the beers’ exceptional character — gives the town a further layer of industrial and social heritage of considerable interest. The current craft brewing scene in the area continues this tradition of quality brewing in the Hampshire chalk country.

The Curtis Museum and Allen Gallery — Alton’s excellent local museum and art gallery, its collections including important Roman and medieval material, the internationally significant collection of English pottery and ceramics at the Allen Gallery, and the natural history and local history collections that contextualise the town’s long story — provides a cultural institution of genuine quality and considerable community importance. The Alton Community Theatre, the annual Alton Literary Festival and the town’s active programme of cultural and community events make it one of the most culturally engaged market towns in East Hampshire.

Key celebration venues include quality hotels in and around the town, The Swan Hotel on the High Street, established restaurants and pubs throughout the town centre and the surrounding villages, Alton College for end-of-year and sixth-form events, community halls and sports clubs, and private homes throughout Alton’s well-regarded residential streets and surrounding villages.
